Volume and Control
Charcoal on paper
30 x 30 inches
There’s something about incorporating print and writing into my drawings that I just love. I also love it in other people’s work. I think it has a lot to do with (surprise, surprise!) control – giving more direction to the viewer than they might otherwise have.
Of course, drawing the dial perfectly in between the two is wishful thinking; my faucet tends to be cranked almost fully towards volume, both in the shower and out in the real world.
